Here are a few things to know before your appointment at Luke’s Well in Scottsburg.
Talk with our teamWhat is the difference between Xeomin and Daxxify?
Both are prescription botulinum toxin products that temporarily relax targeted muscles. They have different formulations, dosing units, and approved uses. Your provider will help determine which is appropriate for your treatment area and goals.
Xeomin is $12 per unit and Daxxify is $13 per unit at Luke’s Well. Their units are not interchangeable, so total treatment cost depends on the product and your individualized plan.
How long do tox results last?
Our general estimates are 3–4 months for fine lines and wrinkles, 4–6 months for underarm sweating and masseter treatment, and 8–12 weeks for a lip flip. These are estimates, not guaranteed outcomes.
Daxxify may last longer for frown lines than the general 3–4 month estimate. Your provider will discuss a timeline based on the product, dose, treatment area, and your response.
When will I see results, and is there downtime?
Results develop gradually, with timing dependent on the product and treatment area. Most people can return to many normal daily activities after treatment, but temporary redness, swelling, or bruising may occur. Your provider will give you aftercare instructions and explain when to assess your results.
Does a lip flip add volume like lip filler?
No. A lip flip relaxes the muscle along the upper lip so more of the lip may show. It creates a subtle change in appearance without adding volume the way dermal filler does.
Can masseter tox help with clenching or grinding?
Masseter treatment may reduce activity in the jaw muscles associated with clenching or grinding. It is not a cure for every cause of jaw pain, and a clinical assessment is needed to determine whether it is appropriate for you. Your provider may recommend additional evaluation or dental care.
Are all of these treatment uses FDA approved?
Approval depends on the specific product and treatment area. Some uses offered here, including lip flips, masseter treatment, and treatment of underarm sweating with Xeomin or Daxxify, are off-label. This means the product is used for a purpose outside its FDA-approved labeling. Your provider will explain the proposed use, benefits, risks, and alternatives.
What should I discuss with my provider before treatment?
Share your medical history, medications, prior toxin treatments, allergies, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tox is not appropriate for everyone. Possible side effects include bruising, temporary muscle weakness, or eyelid drooping. Rarely, toxin effects can spread and cause serious swallowing or breathing problems.
